As you might have read in the previous newsletter, the second term of our chairman Tim Wilkinson MRICS ended, and we would like to take the opportunity to thank him for his services and for the valuable contribution Tim has made to RICS during his period of appointment. It has been a real pleasure working with Tim in this capacity and his expertise and insights have been an essential contribution to our strategic discussions.

At the same time, the term of three Board Members ended. We thank Diana Nanu MRICS, Lorena Brehuescu MRICS and Razvan Gheorghiu-Testa FRICS for all the commitment and contribution in the past years.

The pandemic had a huge impact on how we communicated and engaged not only with our members but also with other key participants of the markets we have presence in and these changes resulted in RICS rethinking the model of how we operate. You will probably have heard that RICS decided to close down a number of offices globally and a wide-spread reorganisation also took place to ensure our operation remains efficient and effective. One of the final stages of this process is the ongoing so-called Bichard review, which is an independent review into the Institution’s Purpose, Governance and Strategy. As part of the review process, members and staff members of RICS had the opportunity to communicate their opinions to Lord Bichard who is going to summarise his findings of the review in the next few weeks.

Going forward, as we navigate through the review process, we will not be launching a formal process to select a new chairman, but Radu Ionescu will continue working with the remaining members of the Advisory Board on an interim basis. You will hear more from us soon regarding our priorities for the coming period.
