Overview

We would like to invite our early career professionals on the Built Environment pathways to a site visit to the live Faraday Tower enabling works and demolition project currently underway at the University of Southampton, Highfield Campus. This visit presents a unique opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on knowledge, site experience, and the chance to observe some of the following main works:

  • the demolition process of a 10+ storey cantilevered tower built in 1960’s
  • the installation of a large attenuation tank
  • drainage works.

For your safety, you must bring and wear your own Personal Protective Equipment (unfortunately we are unable to provide this for attendees).

The following PPE is mandatory for attendees:

  • hard hat
  • high-visibility vest/coat
  • steel cap boots
  • gloves
  • safety glasses.

This is a fantastic learning opportunity to see firsthand the complexities and intricacies involved in a major demolition/construction project.

Further, this experience will benefit your professional development and provide you with practical insights that are directly applicable to roles in the Built Environment pathways.

Photographs may be taken at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make the Matrics host and/or photographer aware.
