Applications to be appointed to the RICS Regulatory Tribunal will open in late 2024 early 2025 with the shortlisting and interviews over May and June, ready for appointment and onboarding in early Q4 2024. Role of the Regulatory Tribunal Member

Regulatory Tribunal Members act with the utmost integrity and professionalism when approaching the cases of Regulated Members (or prospective Members) to ensure there is a fair and just outcome. 

As part of the role a Regulatory Tribunal Member will be:

  • Reading and preparing case papers for hearings.
  • Sitting as a panel of three with two non-RICS Members of the Regulatory Tribunal to deliberate over cases and determine the outcome of cases.
  • Sitting as a single decision maker carry out fixed penalty reviews and decide the outcome of cases not requiring a public hearing.
  • Being prepared to challenge parties and witnesses presenting evidence.
  • Assisting in the drafting of a case decision.
  • Participating in case management hearings to determine the progress of cases or decide procedural application relating to the preparation and presentation of the cases.
  • Keeping up to date with the procedures and policies and with relevant case law and legislation.
  • Attend training and other ad hoc Regulatory Tribunal events as required.

Regulatory Tribunal Members are appointed for 3 years initially and will commit to approximately 7-15 days a year for which they are remunerated at a rate of £340 per day plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.
