RICS has today launched the Annual Review for the year ending 31 July 2022, which summarises information on the year’s overall performance.

We have continued to deliver positive change in the built and natural environment through our respected global standards, leading professional progression and providing trusted data and insights. Maintaining trust in the profession and its critical expertise has proved vital as it acts in the public interest to effect positive change.

Our work and collaboration with others has created a foundation for confident markets, helping to pioneer better places to live and work and is a force for positive social impact.

As a global professional body, we are constantly assessing how we can best deliver confidence to governments, stakeholders, markets, and the public, and how we can act as a force for positive social impact.

Key report takeaways:

1.      It has been a good year for standards adoption with a total of 71 adoptions achieved globally. Adoptions range from major projects (ICMS) to strong government engagement that facilitates the recognition of RICS members.  Our work continued to address key themes, supporting building safety, trust in valuations and a sustainable built environment.

2.      We continue to research, design and deliver lifelong learning and development that provides diverse and accessible pathways into the profession.  In November 2021, the Standards and Regulation Board (SRB) formally established the Qualifications and Assessments Committee (QAC), responsible for the delivery of assessments, direct-entry routes, accreditation of degrees, and consistent assessment standards.

3.      RICS is championing sustainable practices across the built and natural environment and empowering professionals to better measure environmental impacts and embed sustainability considerations into their work. We launched our inaugural Sustainability Report. This was compiled from over 4,000 member responses to specific sustainability-related questions.

4.      In the last financial year, we have also established The Member Engagement, Experience and Value (MEEV) working group as a member–staff partnership initiative that will be crucial in rebuilding the kind of RICS that our stakeholders demand. In total, we rolled out 119 events, engaging with 11,640 members.

Going forward our reporting year will be changed to the calendar year. The annual report and statement of accounts will be published at the end of the first quarter of 2023 and feature key information including full financial statements, including the period from August to December 2022.
