It has been a challenging two years in many ways - the pandemic crisis, a climate crisis before us, and at the moment of writing this Newsletter, Russia invaded Ukraine. It is upon this backdrop, that we have also undergone unprecedented times as an organisation.

The purpose of these newsletters is to provide you with a snapshot of local news & developments in the Czech Republic and CEE. If anyone has suggestions or questions, don’t hesitate to reach out

It gives me great pleasure and honour to produce the first local newsletter giving insight on local and relevant regional and global news and developments.

It is part of the RICS’ drive to increase their connection with members and deliver regionally focused content.

After 7 years William Bucknell’s term as a Chair ended

I would like to take this moment to thank William Bucknell MRICS, for his contribution and energy he invested as Chair of our Board in the Czech Republic. After seven years, Will’s term as Chair has ended and from this place I would like to thank him for the accomplishments he brought and being the Ambassador he was, is, for our organisation.

Despite the fact that RICS was unable to offer face to face events for many months, I hope that you have benefitted from the resources, education & engagement offered through the organisation’s online portal for members.

RICS in Czech Republic in 2022

We are planning to organise new CPD events, hopefully in person, throughout the year. So look out for news of these in the coming weeks by email, or through our LinkedIn page. Let’s try and increase the communication between members and with the board, to work on ways that we can make the most of the community that we have built, which now stands at 119 members in Czech Republic.

Continued accreditation for “Project Management and Engineering”

The master degree study programme "Project Management and Engineering" at the CVUT has been scheduled for reaccreditation at the end of 2022.

The Lord Bichard RICS Review

On a wider front during 2021, RICS continued with the review of the organisation and continues to seek ways to both modernise and improve how we operate. The need to be able adapt to a rapidly changing world as a global organisation has never been so apparent as it is at the beginning of the ‘20s. As was reported in December, the most significant of the recommendations is the review of RICS’ purpose, governance and strategy being undertaken independently by Lord Bichard. In January, we joined the other CEE Chairs on a call with Lord Bichard as part of his reach out to all local boards in Europe. The Bichard RICS Review will be submitted to Council by June 2022.
