The SDGs a Just Transition and their relationship with the Built Environment

Overview

We will begin with a short summary of the contribution of the Built Environment to the current hot topics of climate and environmental impacts. We will cover briefly the proliferation of terms used and provide some context as to what they mean and how they relate to each other. The SDGs will be set out. We will, with a focus on one or two SDGs explain how the goal, targets and indicators are structured and reported, its legal framework and how it relates to the Built Environment.

Learning Outcomes

 

To build confidence and knowledge among RICS members to engage with the debates currently underway, those that are developing and to become a part of the change needed within the Built Environment in Northern Ireland.

Speaker

Ciara Keegan, Congruent Consulting

Ciara has over 25 years’ experience. She is a RICS chartered quantity surveyor with experience in procurement, claims consultancy and expert witness services with leading international firms. She advises and represents contractors, advising them through negotiations, dispute avoidance and management. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales and she is a qualified CEDR mediator. She has worked in Ireland, the UK, the EU and on projects across the Middle East and Asia. Ciara has a MSc in Construction Dispute Resolution from Kings College London and a H.Dip in Construction Dispute Administration from Trinity College Dublin. She has a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the Irish Centre for Human Rights, University of Galway.
