Overview

Birmingham Local Professional Association welcomes you to a morning CPD session.

An expert speaker from Langley will examine the key aspects of fire accreditation and the testing of roofing systems, taking on board the latest findings and consequences for construction from the Grenfell Inquiry. They will also cover current testing procedures for flat roofs and roof junctions with compartments and external walls.

Part 1 – The difference between product and system fire classification

  • An understanding of the difference between a roof product’s reaction to fire rating versus a roof system’s external fire rating.
  • The relevance of BROOF (t4) and why BROOF (t4) systems are considered unrestricted.
  • Other roof systems that are considered unrestricted.

Part 2 – Roof junctions with compartment and external walls

  • How to comply with internal fire spread requirements at wall/roof junctions.
  • The new terms ‘specified attachments’ and ‘relevant building’ and how they impact roofing.
  • Review the combustible materials ban and how it impacts external
