EU Whole Life Carbon Roadmap open letter launch

The European Commission is developing a Whole Life Carbon (WLC) Roadmap for the built environment in Europe which is due to be released by the end of the year.

Alongside 40 other built environment stakeholder groups and businesses representing over 5,000 member organisations, we are expressing our support today for the European Commission’s development of an EU Whole Life Carbon Roadmap for the built environment sector.

Specifically, we are recommending that this Roadmap:

• Offers a clear decarbonisation pathway to 2050, with intermediary targets at regular intervals for the sector
  
• Outlines holistic policy interventions across areas such as building regulations, waste and circularity, procurement and finance
  
• Reflects the existing widespread support for ambition on tackling Whole Life Carbon from industry and Member States.
