The achievements of individuals, teams and organisations within the region were officially celebrated at a ceremony dinner held in The Lalit New Delhi on 03 August 2023, attended by Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari.

It was also our privilege to honour the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Mr. Subhash Runwal – Chairman, Runwal Group.

Bangalore International Airport Limited - Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru Terminal 2

The expansion programme of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, including the newly operational Terminal 2 is being nominated for this award. The INR 13,000 crore expansion programme includes the network of roads, new runway and taxiways along with the supporting utilities and ancillary buildings.

As the crown jewel, the 255,000sqm terminal 2 is the centre of attraction of this expansion. This expansion serves to address the urgent needs of the ever-increasing aviation traffic and fulfil a key infrastructure demand for the city of Bengaluru. The project sets a new benchmark for airports across the globe and truly deserves this award.

BVG India Ltd. - Saving Lives - Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS)

When an emergency strikes, you need someone who responds to you quickly and sends help in the shortest duration possible. BVG India understands the criticality of emergency responses and have developed an emergency response program that provides assistance and emergency services across multiple situations.

Project aim set up by the Government of Maharashtra, and operated by BVG India Ltd. has been to reduce mortality and morbidity by providing prehospital care through ambulances during medical emergencies.

Bengaluru Airport City Limited

Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), is planning Bengaluru Airport City (BAC) as a Sustainable, Smart, Vibrant city.

BACL designed & implemented “India’s first IoT based individual dimmable smart street lighting in any airport ecosystem & private real estate”.

With this solution BACL aims to bring down energy consumption by 25-30%, quick turnaround time due to remote monitoring and real time alerts, enhanced customer safety &security due to optimum lighting at all times and almost zero maintenance with substantial CO2e reduction helping the world environment in a big way.

Turner & Townsend

The project selected for nomination of these awards is an Engineering and Technology Centre for an Aviation giant.

The client is developing its first and largest Greenfield state-of-the-art facility outside the United States, consolidating its operations across multiple offices in the city, comprising of engineering and computational labs, office spaces, employee amenities and utility buildings.

The land parcel is ~43 acres and is developed across different phases. Turner and Townsend was engaged to undertake Project management, Cost and Contract Management and HSE Services ranging from site selection to project close out.

Anarock Capital Advisors Pvt. Ltd.

ANAROCK Capital advised Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd (TRIL) on its joint venture with The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).

The JV is potentially one of India’s largest JV platforms in commercial office space and together they aim to reach over Rs.13,000 crore in assets under management. The total aggregate equity value of the joint venture is of USD 700 MN (Rs 5,300 crore) where CPPIB’s equity commitment is of 49% share (Rs. 2,600 crore).

The said deal was led by Mr. Shobhit Agarwal, MD & CEO of ANAROCK Capital and was supported by Mr. Monik Gangar.

T2 is the largest airport terminal in the world to receive the USGBC LEED Platinum pre-certification even before the launch of its operations.

Prathap Chartered Valuation & Consultancy (Pvt) Ltd - Valuation of world largest Seaplane Terminal at Velana International Airport, Maldives 

Prathap Chartered Valuation & Consultancy (Pvt) Ltd is a RICS Regulated firm of Chartered Surveyors that operates in the field of property valuations and consultancy in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives and is headed by Mr. D Prathapasinghe FRICS, a senior valuation surveyor with over 27 years of experience and over 27,000 Valuation assignments done to date.

This subject project is a valuation of the 'Noovilu Seaplane Terminal' at Velana International Airport in Maldives, which is one of the region's most distinctive special trading entities, and it claims to be the largest seaplane terminal facility in the World.

Anshul Singhal MRICS

As a young visionary wanting to disrupt the warehousing sector in the country, Anshul established an integrated fund, development, and asset management organisation that became a part of the USD 2.7 billion Welspun Group and went on to be branded as Welspun One Logistics Parks.

With a vision to make WOLP India’s most preferred warehousing company, he has worked with prominent players and successfully closed deals of over INR 2000Cr, 3.2 million sq ft land leased, and 0.5 million sq ft land delivered. Pradeep Lala MRICS is the MD & CEO of Embassy Services Pvt. Ltd. (ESPL), the Property Management arm of the Embassy Group.

Professionalism

  • Use of surveying knowledge and/or professional expertise in areas such as technical, financial, legal, environmental, building regulation, sustainability and restoration where applicable, to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated adherence to RICS ethics.
  • Demonstration of using the most appropriate procurement method for engaging contractors and suppliers (if applicable).
  • Demonstration of the ability to resolve disputes.
  • Demonstration of how international standards have been adopted will be an advantage.

Outcome and achievement

  • Measurable success of nominated initiative(s)/project(s)/team(s) against a predefined target.
  • Challenges overcome in the process relative to complexity. What were the or unique challenges? How were these challenges overcome?
  • Cost effectiveness. How was cost managed effectively against a target?
  • Client satisfaction and positive social impact.
  • Timely completion. Demonstration of how the project is managed effectively with respect to time?

  • How was technology applied to deliver the outcome?
  • Any innovative technology applied to enhance site safety (if applicable)?
  • Any smart information technology applied for document control and communication to enhance productivity?

Sustainability

  • Quantitative analysis on sustainability considerations and achievements.
  • Demonstration of creating better places and spaces for future generations.
  • Demonstrated adoption of sustainable development principles.
  • Social Impact. How did the nominated team promote and educate stakeholders about sustainability in the community and improve the community more broadly?

Team and company awards

  1. Nominated project(s) and major/key team member(s) must be located or operated in the Awards region being submitted for.
  2. Nominations can be made by the nominee (team, company or consortia) or a third party.
  3. The project(s) which is the subject of the nomination must have been worked on within the 2021 or 2022 calendar year, though not necessarily completed (Excluding Best Affordable Housing Project Award and Best Real Estate Project Award categories. For these two categories, the projects must have been completed within the 2020, 2021 or 2022 calendar years).
  4. Nominations must be based on at least one but no more than three projects within the 2021 or 2022 calendar year (nominating party to select).
  5. A company may submit a joint nomination however, where a joint nomination is submitted a subsequent, stand-alone application from the same company, on the same project(s) and in the same category is not allowed.
  6. Nominations must be submitted via the online submission platform. Where multiple nominations are being submitted by the one organisation, a separate online submission will need to be completed for each nomination.
  7. Nomination must be accompanied by a 100-word summary in word file for marketing purposes.
  8. Other relevant supporting materials/documents are optional but welcomed. These should be limited to a maximum of three additional pieces of supporting material/documents and three testimonials, all in PDF format.
  9. A logo must be provided as well as a photo of the team or individual nominated. This will be used during award presentation.

Nomination check list

  • An online submission is completed for each nomination.
  • For team awards, at least one but no more than three projects have been included in the nomination.
  • Supporting material may include testimonials, photographs, technical documentation, media clippings, floor plans, etc. to support the adjudication process.
  • Supporting material is limited to three individual materials and no more than three testimonials.
  • In addition to the nomination and supporting materials, the nomination is accompanied by photographs of the team/individuals nominated, the project(s) nominated and includes a copy of the nominee’s company logo (as appropriate).

Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari

  1. Mr. Nitin Gadkari is the Minister for Road Transport and Highways (RT&H), Government of India. Mr. Nitin Gadkari was born on 27th May 1957 in a middle-class family with roots in agriculture in Maharashtra’s Orange-city Nagpur. Mr. Gadkari got involved very closely with the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and took to social work in a big way.
  2. Mr. Gadkari completed his Post-Graduation in Commerce, besides studying Law and obtaining a Diploma in Business Management. Mr. Gadkari has been honored with Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri, Ahmednagar in 2021 and Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidhyapeeth (PDKV), Akola, Maharashtra in 2022 for his outstanding contributions to the field of agriculture and research for ensuring the financial security of farmers. In 2022, he received Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) from the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad for significant contributions in road and infrastructure development in the country.
  3. Mr. Gadkari formally entered politics in 1980. Principally, he believes that Politics is an instrument to bring socio-economic reforms in society. He went on to become BJP’s State President in Maharashtra in 2005. He was elevated to the post of party’s National President at the young age of 52 in 2009. He served as PWD Minister in Maharashtra Government during 1995-99, and was leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Council for four consecutive terms.
  4. Mr. Gadkari is committed to promoting the use of alternative fuels, which are import-substitutes, cost effective, indigenous and pollution-free. Under Mr. Gadkari’s guidance, the city of Nagpur was the first city to explore alternative bio-fuels for transport, including Bio-CNG, Bio-Ethanol and LNG. Mr. Gadkari is also introducing Flex-Fuel engines to be run on 100% Ethanol. He also launched the first ever tractor in India, which is run on bio-CNG, thus providing additional income to farmers. He also emphasizes on adoption of Green Hydrogen as a clean and indigenous source of energy, across various industries and mobility sector. Recently, he has launched a car in Delhi, on pilot basis, which runs completely on Hydrogen.
  5. Under his supervision, over 70,000 kms of National Highways have been constructed in the last 7 years and 30,0000 kms of new roads are being constructed currently. Twenty-Seven world class access-controlled Greenfield expressway projects being led by Mr. Gadkari under Bharatmala Pariyojana phase-1, are presently in various Pstages of construction. They are of around 9000 kms in length and have a capital cost of Rs 4 Lakh Crores. Mr. Gadkari is a proponent of remote connectivity. Most of these Green Field alignments are passing through remote and tribal areas. These Greenfield Highways will promote socio-economic development of remote and tribal areas. He is the man behind marvelous engineering showcases like Bandra-Worli Sea Link, 55 flyovers in Mumbai, India‘s First Mumbai-Pune Expressway, 14-lane Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Nagpur’s Multi-Layer Metro-Rail cum Flyover system and the upcoming high-tech Delhi-Mumbai expressway. The Delhi-Mumbai distance will be covered in just 12 hours. This will change the entire dynamics of passenger and freight movement on this busiest corridor of India.
  6. Multi-Modal Logistics Parks, 600 Way Side Amenities, 105 Tunnels, 28 Emergency Landing Strips are currently being developed under Mr. Gadkari’s tenure. His Ministry has also received around 285 proposals from State Governments to develop Ropeways. Mr. Gadkari has also initiated a Funicular Rail project in Ladakh which will help swift movement of people and goods (including 2-wheelers & domestic animals).
  7. Among his other endeavors, unprecedented progress is evident in port industrialization, national water highway traffic, jetties for coastal tourism, Ganga-Yamuna cleaning, fund raising, asset monetization projects, etc.
  8. Mr. Gadkari introduced the first ever Motor Vehicle Scraping Policy in the fight against Pollution and Road & Vehicle safety. The New FASTAG policy introduced by Mr Gadkari, is helping commuters to save fuel and time on Toll Plazas. Some of his major works include, unprecedented push for R&D in electric vehicles for developing alternative battery chemistries, such as Sodium and Aluminum batteries and Hydrogen fuel cells. With his waste to wealth policy, Mr. Gadkari is promoting use of new, advanced and recycled waste materials in road construction works. For fast and economical construction, he has mandated large scale use of pre-fabricated pre-cast concrete elements in the highways projects. He is encouraging tree plantation along the highways, installation of solar panels, rain water harvesting and artificial ground water recharge systems. Mr. Gadkari is committed towards the development of qualitative, time-bound, cost effective and sustainable world-class infrastructures in the country.
  9. During his tenure as the Union Minister for Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation, the monumental “Namami Gange” project became a mass movement involving central and state government agencies, private sector and foreign investors, NGOs, spiritual and social organizations as well as the common people. With his political stature he resolved Inter-State disputes on Water sharing and River Linking, involving 16 rivers in 11 States in a short span of six months. The first Inland Waterway was developed during his tenure, and goods movement was commenced between Varanasi and Kolkata, adding a new dimension to the logistical history of inland water ways in the country. As a part of Amrit Sarovar Mission, he initiated to develop 40 farm ponds in Akola district in association with PDKV. This would help to create additional water storage in the region. Under his leadership, MoRTH has issued the guidelines for use of excavated material from water bodies in Highway construction.

Now he along with Mrs Anita George and Mr Harsh Singhal are setting up Edhina Capital, a venture fund that will invest in businesses that are rooted in Sustainability. Built Environment is one of the sectors of serious focus for the fund.   

Hari sits on the Global Board of Directors of IFMA, Executive Board of Indian Green Building Council, Asia Pacific World Regional Board of RICS. Bipin Misra is a professional with three decades of experience in Public & Private sector with focus on Industrial, infrastructure & Real Estate industry. 

Equipped with degree in Civil Engineering and Business Administration, he earned many prestigious certifications like Nextgen Manager from Harvard Business publication, Business Excellence assessor by Tata, ISO auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt & Masters in Corporate Real Estate (MCR).  

He is member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) & CoreNet Global.  

Currently Bipin works as India Region Real Estate Leader at EY. He also had leadership position with reputed organizations like Cognizant, Honeywell & GMR. 

Chitra is Dean of the Colombo School of Construction Technology in Sri Lanka, where the RICS Accredited BSc honors degree course in Quantity Surveying is conducted, in partnership with the University of Salford UK. This represents the Second institution to be accredited  by RICS independently, alongside the University of Moratuwa.

As Managing Director of GBCI, Gopalakrishnan manages business and market development of LEED and other GBCI rating systems for the Southeast Asia and Middle East regions. 

His expertise includes corporate strategy, international market expansion, branding, and business unit creation.

Naseera  leads  the  Workplace  Studio  as  Studio Director in the Gensler Bangalore office with over 17 years of design industry credit. She has valuable experience in the conceptualisation and delivery of a variety of project typologies, including corporate campuses, workplace, and retail. Naseera is a strategic leader with proven experience in leading various projects, particularly in the Technology and Financial practice areas, as well as establishing meaningful relationships with clients. In addition to being a versatile manager, with exceptional team-building skills and the ability to steer project deadlines in a timely manner, she also is able to understand design concepts at the cellular level in addition to ensuring that they are aligned to client expectations and business goals. Her tenacity and resourcefulness allow her to quickly grasp the complexity of her clients’ challenges and set in motion new strategies to solve them. Naseera has held key positions for multiple completed projects, leading them from inception through execution and finally to the handover stage. Praveen has extensive skills in Valuation of Real Estate, Business, Financial Instruments and P&M due to his education, experience in varied industries and geographical locations. He holds experience in valuing large businesses, commercial office space complexes, retail complexes, malls, medical equipment, mines, large manufacturing and storage units, infrastructure, large industrial buildings and machinery, plantations and forests, residential and industrial projects,. He has more than 18 years of experience in Valuation and allied fields. Before being a registered valuer, he was working on the valuation and advisory businesses for Knight Frank and he was Heading the Credit Risk for corporate real estate of Edelweiss Group in Mumbai, India. He has extensive experience in credit risk management of very large corporate funding and has managed portfolios of more than $3Bn in multiple companies.

From 2014 until 30th June 2022, Mr. Subodh C. Dixit headed the Engineering & Construction division of Shapoorji Pallonji And Company Private Limited (apart from being Executive Director on its Board). During this period, he oversaw the day-to-day management of the organisation, including business development and strategic planning, encompassing all projects across Commercial, Institutional, Residential, Airports, Healthcare and Sports. The organisation is a pioneer in bringing top-down construction methodology to India, and has undertaken several initiatives to integrate technology in construction – including viz. 3-D BIM Modelling, digital tools to track labour attendance and productivity, as well as robotics. Mr Dixit continues to be associated with the SP Group as a Board member.
