We recognise the economic hardships that many members and firms have faced in recent years and so, for the last five years, we have not increased subscriptions fees; instead absorbing the impact of rising business costs and inflation equivalent to 25%. Unfortunately, despite carrying out cost savings and cash management initiatives totalling £4.9m, freezing subscriptions is no longer sustainable.
In order to maintain and improve the services we are able to provide, a baseline moderate increase of 3.5% will be implemented for 2025. All fees, regardless of member location, have been set against the new GBP UK MRICS subscription rate to help guard against excessive foreign exchange fluctuations. In some countries, currency volatility throughout the last 12 months has meant that subscription fees will be higher or lower than the baseline set.
Members told us that they want a simpler, fairer and more consistent subscriptions framework in place at RICS and over the last 18 months a project has been underway to address this.
Governing Council, in collaboration with the member-led World Regional Boards, has agreed a new framework that takes into account benefits available by region and member grade, while keeping affordability as a key consideration.
The new subscriptions framework will be gradually applied over a five-year period. By assessing member feedback, market conditions, and RICS' service offerings, we have created a more equitable approach to inform our fees longer term.
Alongside the subscriptions framework, the concessions framework has also been revised to ensure we continue to support eligible members when they need it the most.
Find out more about subscription fees in your region below, and more information about the changes and the new framework can also be found in our frequently asked questions.
