The West Midlands encompasses the five shires of Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire, and a large conurbation that includes Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and the Black Country.

UK Regional Boards are an integral part of the RICS governance structure, facilitating a multi-way flow of information between the central RICS, World Regional Board, and members.

Boards also work closely with the UK market team to advise and support engagement activities tailored to the specific priorities of the region.

Anesh Chauhan FRICS

Associate Project Manager, Arcadis

Anesh is an Associate at Arcadis with experience spanning multi-million-pound projects in sectors including Local Government, Highways and Defence. By background, Anesh is a qualified chartered building surveyor and his areas of expertise include project management of various complexity. Anesh was appointed to the regional board in 2023 and is involved in supporting existing and new members and inspiring the next generation of surveyor. Anesh continues to coach APC candidates helping them to achieve their chartership as well as visiting schools and universities promoting interest in the profession. Anesh is also a member of Association for Project Management and Chartered Fellow (CMgr FCMI) with the Chartered Management Institute. ‘As a RICS regional board member, Anesh will champion, shape and amplify the RICS across the region.’

Richard Crow FRICS

Partner, Rapley LLP

Richard is a Partner at Rapleys, based within their Birmingham office and leads the Building Surveying team, specialising in multiple sectors across the West Midlands and UK. He is a Fellow of the RICS as well as being an RICS Registered Expert Witness and Chair for The Marches (an RICS LPG) since 2018. Richard began his career in industry as a plumber before moving into consultancy as a Land Surveyor and Setting Out Engineer prior to moving into commercial Building Surveying in 2005. ‘Joining the regional board at such a turbulent time for the RICS may appear challenging, however, I see it as an ideal time and platform to reengage with members and for members to have more of an input with the RICS on a regional basis.’

Sarah Gregory MRICS

Director, Development, Savills

Sarah is a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor, specialising in development consultancy for a range of sectors across the Midlands. She is a Director in the Savills Birmingham Development Team, where she is responsible for undertaking property market and land-use analysis for both master-planning advice and as part of economic assessment and market appraisals; undertaking assessments and development appraisals; and providing subsequent development advice. She carries out Financial Viability Assessment across the country and is a Registered Valuer. She has been a previous chair of Birmingham Matrics and is an APC Assessor.

Charles Kirkpatrick FRICS

Director and Co-Owner, Colmore Consulting Limited

Charles is a Director and Co-Owner of Colmore Consulting who specialise in providing procurement and commercial services to the infrastructure sector. Charles’ expertise lies in supporting his clients with the delivery of major infrastructure programmes with a focus on pre-contract strategy, supply chain engagement and procurement. Charles has worked on many of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes including, Crossrail, Thames Tideway Tunnel, High Speed 2 as well working within the Defence, Mining and Water sectors supporting clients with the delivery of their capital portfolios. Charles joined the RICS West Midlands Board as he is passionate about supporting the next generation of surveyors in our region. ‘With unprecedented levels of investment in construction activity in the West Midlands with some of UK’s largest infrastructure programmes on our doorstep, I am looking forward to helping the RICS capitalise on this opportunity.

Krystal is an Associate Director at SEGRO PLC leading major logistics developments across the Midlands. Krystal is a chartered project management surveyor with over 20 years industry experience across a variety of sectors including, logistics, industrial, manufacturing, nuclear and high rise residential. Krystal is also an APC Assessor and Inspire Ambassador for the RICS nurturing future talent and the next generation of Surveyors. Krystal is a keen influencer on matters relating to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and involved in various charity projects with particular focus on improving employment skills in our local communities.

Mark is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and RICS accredited Quantum Expert with over 35 years-experience across all sectors of the built environment both in the UK and overseas. Having started his career in industry rather than professional practice Mark has grown to understand at a practical level the differing range of attitude toward the role and purpose of RICS. ‘Participation at regional board level provides the ideal platform for me to actively represent the wider quantity surveying profession and regional membership in promoting their aspirations for a diverse, responsible, and well governed professional body that continues to uphold the highest standards.’

Vincent Pegg FRICS

Partner, RLB

Vincent is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Partner at Rider Levett Bucknall, where he leads the Built Asset Consultancy in the Midlands. Previously, Vincent was Head of Quality for a Tier 1 Contractor, overseeing the delivery of over £2 billion in projects. He has extensive experience leading teams to provide project management, quality monitoring, clerk of works, and traditional building surveying services. Vincent has worked as a consultant, client, and contractor, with a significant portion of his career spent working with Jaguar Land Rover Limited. Vincent stated, "I have joined the board with a clear objective of boosting RICS’ regional visibility. Drawing from my broad industry expertise and knowledge, I am determined to assist RICS in making informed decisions that will significantly improve the member experience”.

Phil Richardson MRICS

Quantity Surveyor

Phil has been a member of RICS since the 1980’s and his career as a quantity surveyor has mainly involved acting in senior roles with contractors delivering in the infrastructure sector. During this time, Phil has been fortunate to be involved in iconic projects like London 2012, the modernisation of the West Coast railway and the development and construction of High-Speed Two. ‘As a relatively new board member, I am looking forward to developing and mentoring successive generations to face the challenges ahead to meet climate change, to improve our overall efficiency in delivering property, infrastructure and the new digital environment’.

Marc Rostron MRICS

Director, Turner and Townsend

Marc leads the Infrastructure Cost and Commercial Management across the Midlands region across a variety of sectors including Rail, Utilities, Highways, Aviation & Defence. He has over 15 years commercial management experience working on major projects and programmes across the UK. Marc has been a member of the West Midlands regional board since 2019 and is passionate about supporting improvement in all that we do as a professional body.

David Warburton MRICS

Development Director, Urban Splash

David started his career with Lovell Partnerships, before working across the UK in leading a multi-disciplinary built environment consultancy team as Director of Development and Regeneration for The Prince’s Foundation. He subsequently held senior roles at government regeneration agency English Partnerships, the Homes and Communities Agency and Homes England. In 2018 he was seconded to the West Midlands Combined Authority as Head of Land and Development, where he led on the delivery of the £250m Housing Deal, and created the Combined Authority’s Single Commissioning Framework covering its £360m investment in land, housing and commercial property. He has recently returned to Urban Splash as Development Director following an earlier commercial secondment from Homes England. He is responsible for delivering new and revitalised neighbourhoods, including the transformative 20-year city development partnership with Swansea Council - Urban Splash's first venture into Wales. David serves as a non executive director on the RICS Regional Board, and continues his existing role as an RICS Assessor. He volunteers as a mentor to young leaders in real estate, supporting and helping to develop the careers of future property professionals; and plays an active role in the Urban Land Institute in the UK as a Member of its Regional Executive Committee.

Market engagement lead

Graham has been with RICS since 2012, the majority of this time has been spent working in a member engagement role. He is currently the Market Engagement Lead for the Midlands and South West regions (including the Channel Islands), working in partnership with the regional boards and local member groups to deliver a tailored plan of engagement and advocacy activity.
