This is a online course that you can study in your own time. There are eight modules, plus an exam at the end of the course. In each module, you have access to eLearning, reading, case study and a quiz. You also have access to recorded consolidation sessions, where a tutor will take you through the module, case study and any tricky elements of learning. Each module is expected to take you one month. You are given a further two months to complete your exam and complete any further outstanding work. After this time, the course will end, and you will no longer have access to these materials.

Overview

Residential property plays a vitally important role in society. In addition to its primary purpose of meeting the housing requirements of the population, it is also a growing investment asset class. Given the importance of housing in society, it is essential that the market is supported by qualified professionals who can ensure the industry operates smoothly and in line with recognized standards of practice.

In this course, we will cover the core skills required by residential chartered surveyors, focusing on core competencies identified by RICS’ industry expertise. This includes the principles and best practices related to measurement, inspection, residential property management, building defects, lan­­­dlord and tenant issues, leasing and letting, purchase and sale or property, maintenance and housing strategy and provision.

The course will use a combination of online learning tools and case studies to support the learning and will be extremely valuable to those looking to be qualified as RICS member or to gain fundamental skills required to work in the residential property market.

Assessment
