Overview

Spray foam insulation has been around for over 30 years and has been used/sold to stabilise an old roof covering and/or, to insulate roofs, walls and floors to help retain warmth and reduce energy costs.  However, with different types available and retrofit application changing how cold roof voids were originally designed to function, there have been numerous instances where the reduction of ventilation within the roof space increases humidity and moisture build-up - placing roof timbers at risk of decay.

More recently, spray foam installations within roof spaces have been found to impact the value of property, saleability and mortgage availability.
