Critical minerals such as copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt and rare earth elements are essential components in many of today's rapidly growing clean energy technologies – from wind turbines and electricity networks to electric vehicles.

In July 2022, the UK Department for Business and Trade released the first UK Critical Minerals Strategy aiming to improve the security of supply of critical minerals and to highlight the importance of building resilient and diversified mineral supply chains. 

As government builds the foundation upon which Britain can thrive in the 21st century, it’s clear that they must create resilient and diversified mineral supply chains.
