Overview

The CEDD’s new survey vessel “Port Works 5” (PW5) was officially commissioned in October 2024. It represents a significant leap forward in the survey capabilities of CEDD to enhance port engineering and fill management services in Hong Kong waters.

This CPD will examine the challenges faced during the construction of PW5 and delve into the Land Surveyor's crucial role in its delivery. A key highlight will be the technical specifications and design features of PW5, including its advanced navigational systems and sonar equipment, which enable it to operate in diverse marine environments and effectively support a wide range of survey missions.

Furthermore, the speaker will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by this new era of hydrographic survey services, highlighting the need for adaptability and innovation in response to evolving industry
