Senior Officer & Business Leader at Watsons Property Group Ltd

Industrial and workplace challenges

I initially joined the business working in an HR consultancy role to the partners. My initial brief was to support the workforce in an administrative capacity. Instead, in a short period, I had taken on a more senior role and had begun to develop a thorough understanding of the firm, our working practices and implemented business planning processes into the organisation.

I started to challenge our ways of working and advanced flexibility, innovation, and competitive advantage through new business practices which were people centric. Through stronger recruitment strategies, performance feedback and training and development activities we started to see our culture improve and employee numbers increase.

Without a human resource strategy leading the organisation through challenging periods over the last few years, this would not have been achievable. The competitive forces that we face today and will continue to confront in the future, now demand organisational excellence and people skills. The efforts to achieve such excellence are driving the way Watsons gets things done and how we treat people - both employees and customers.

Successful achievements and overcoming challenges

One of my greatest achievements within my role and current workplace is successfully implementing a formal business structure and comprehensive training and development programme that has significantly enhanced the performance and skillsets of our Surveyors, Managers and Team Leaders. This programme resulted in higher client and customer satisfaction, increased employee engagement, and improved overall productivity. With it, we also developed a stronger call centre operation in building our services, efficiencies, and customer satisfaction.

Working with RICS to build credibility

Working with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) has been an enriching experience for our workplace. The collaboration has allowed us to access valuable resources, networking opportunities, and industry insights. The association has also helped us strengthen our professional standing and build credibility in the market.
Demonstrating commitment to high standards

The main reason for our workplace's association with RICS is to demonstrate our commitment to professionalism, ethical standards, and best practices in the real estate industry. RICS provides us with a platform to showcase our expertise and align with industry-leading practices, which helps us build trust with clients and stakeholders.

How RICS has assisted in overcoming workplace challenges

RICS has indeed played a significant role in helping our workplace overcome challenges, particularly in navigating complex regulatory landscapes. The organisation provides guidelines, resources, and training that enable us to effectively manage compliance requirements and ensure our operations are in line with industry standards.

Future Goals and Objectives

Moving forward, our plans and goals include expanding our market presence, strengthening relationships with clients and partners, and capitalising on emerging technologies to drive innovation in our industry. RICS can play a crucial role in helping us achieve these goals by providing up-to-date insights, industry trends, and facilitating connections with like-minded professionals through their extensive network. In conclusion, I am incredibly excited about the future of our workplace and how our collaboration with RICS will propel us towards achieving our goals. Together, we are poised to make significant advancements in the real estate industry and continue providing exceptional service to our clients and stakeholders.
