Voting for year’s RICS Governing Council (GC) elections opens today. With all seats contested and a diverse pool of candidates standing for election to RICS’ highest governing body, the significant increase in applications reflects the growing enthusiasm and dedication of RICS members to drive positive change in the profession.

Justin Sullivan, RICS President Elect, said: “With every seat in this election to be contested by excellent candidates, it is time for RICS’ members to use their vote and choose their representatives.  Whoever is elected will have an important role to play in the future of the surveying profession. I encourage every member to take part and have their say.”

We have remained committed to listening to and acting on evolving member needs and feedback. Putting member views and interests at the heart of our work will continue to be critical in transforming the way members experience RICS and derive value from their membership.

With the publication and implementation of the Future Foundations strategy in 2023, RICS embarked on a comprehensive transformation programme, dedicated to enhancing member experience. In response to feedback, we conducted a comprehensive review of the election process after last year’s GC election to ensure a more transparent and efficient voting experience. As part of the member engagement programme, we held over 80 CPD engagement webinars with 9,215 attendees and 250 free face-to-face networking events engaging 9,778 members in more than 45 countries.

These events, as well as the UK&I member engagement roadshow, have provided a platform for members to voice their opinions, share their experiences, and influence the organisation’s future direction. We have seen a growing sense of community and belonging among our members who have demonstrated their desire to lead the change they want to see in the profession and at RICS.

We recognise the investment our members make in RICS, and we are committed to delivering tangible value in return: an efficient, effective and inspiring professional body that reflects the world around us.

We want to extend our thanks to all those who have applied for GC seats. Your dedication will help shape the future of our profession and contribute to a built and natural environment that is sustainable, resilient and inclusive for all.
