Governing Council membership

  • The March Governing Council meeting was chaired by Nick Maclean OBE FRICS as Acting President, because Justin Sullivan FRICS had temporarily stepped aside from the role of President while a regulatory process is taking place.
  • Council approved the appointment of Maureen Ehrenberg FRICS as Acting President Elect.
  • This was the first Council meeting for Richard Cass MRICS, interim Council member as holder of the Professional Group Building Surveying & Building Control Seat.

Performance Reporting

  • Council considered the new monthly performance reporting pack that has been developed by the Executive Team to provide timely assurance to Council and other governance bodies on RICS activity, the pack including detail on financial performance, membership numbers and enrolments, commercial revenue from products and services, transformation and change programmes, and corporate key results.

New Operating Model

  • Council received an update on progress towards implementing the new RICS operating model, including analysis of risks identified and lessons learned from the collective consultation with staff.

Entry & Assessment Implementation Progress

  • Council discussed the implementation programme for the recommendations from the entry and assessment review, noting that the project had moved from research and consultation into the design and development phase, with first communications to members due imminently.

CPD Framework Implementation

  • Council considered an update on planned changes to the CPD Framework that are targeted for the end of the year.

Concessions

  • Council discussed the latest update on the concessions review, noting that data is currently being gathered in the consultation process and that the timeframe remains to enable changes to be enacted in 2026.

Independent Review 2025

  • Council received a further update on preparations for the Independent Review 2025, which is due to commence later this year.

Quarterly Reports

  • Council received quarterly reports from the RICS Board Chair, the SRB Chair, the DEI Chair and the Sustainability Chair in the meeting pack.

Questions from Members

  • It was noted that no questions had been received from members for Council to consider at the March Council meeting.
