This week, the UK Government announced plans to increase jobs and investment for clean energy in Scotland, with updates on GB Energy, support for clean energy supply chains and speeding up of delivery of a ‘skills passport’.

Speaking on the announcement, Robert Toomey, Senior Public Affairs Officer for Scotland said: “This is a positive update, highlighting cross-party collaboration between the Scottish and UK Governments.”

“On the skills passport, this is a key area for RICS members, many of whom work across the energy sector. Establishing a mutual recognition between skills and qualifications – as noted by Gillian Martin MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero & Energy – will make it much simpler for our members and other workers to transition between sectors and fully realise the benefits of their expertise.”

We recently set up a new member group focused on Net Zero, Energy and Sustainability. Led by Norman McLennan, Chair of the RICS Scotland Board, the group will seek to bring members together interested in these areas across Scotland and beyond, while feeding into relevant policy areas.
