RICS opens new Welsh office

RICS is pleased to announce the opening of the new RICS Wales office located in the heart of the Welsh capital, Cardiff.

Based in Creative Quarter, within the historic Morgan Arcade, the office offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment. It is a well-known location shared among various built environment organisations, with the arcade originally opened in 1899 - and sets a great example of repurposing historic property, whilst creating a modern, sustainable office.

As available with other RICS offices, members will benefit from the use of hot desks and meeting room facilities. The opening of the office builds on the RICS commitment to support surveyors in Wales and be a leading voice of influence for the Welsh built environment, which in recent months includes:

• Working with stakeholders in Wales to develop new surveying degrees and apprenticeship opportunities and promoting the Built Environment GCSE.
• Supporting members and Matrics in delivering a range of CPD and networking opportunities which showcase the best of the built and natural environment in Wales.
• Being an influential voice within the Welsh Government on building safety and climate change – ensuring RICS is a critical partner in tackling some of the biggest challenges facing communities.

The RICS Wales Board Chair, Ian Steele FRICS welcomed the announcement saying:

“The opening of the RICS office in Wales is a welcome boost and builds on the work already underway to support current and future members. I know what the value of a physical presence means to members and the opportunities to return to face-to-face engagement within the home of RICS in Wales.

“The RICS Wales Board, along with our members of staff in Wales, local groups and Matrics Committee, are developing a programme of engagement which maximises the fantastic location of the office. Located just a few minutes’ walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station, the location also means hundreds of students studying RICS courses locally can benefit from further face-to-face support during their studies.

“Whilst I encourage everyone to make use of our fantastic space, I also want to ensure members across all parts of Wales continue to benefit from a range of engagement, training and networking opportunities, something the RICS Wales Board are working tirelessly to deliver on.”
