Looking ahead: Regional Awards under review

The UKI Regional Awards will be paused in 2025 for a comprehensive review to ensure their effectiveness and relevance in recognising the achievements of surveyors. This review will seek to address key challenges, including low regional participation and logistical considerations, as well as feedback that the current structure does not fully showcase the contributions of surveyors, often overshadowed by entries from other disciplines, such as architecture.

As RICS undergoes transformation, this review presents an opportunity to reassess the awards and make them more inclusive, while showcasing the value surveyors bring to the built environment. This review is a proactive and strategic step forward and demonstrates our commitment to delivering an awards program that better serves the profession and reflects its evolving needs.

A steering committee, chaired by residential property expert Tracey Hartley MRICS, a dedicated advocate of the awards, will be established to explore new ways to celebrate surveyors in a more impactful and inclusive manner. The committee will seek input from RICS members and stakeholders to ensure the awards reflect the needs of the profession and emphasise key themes such as diversity, sustainability and career contributions.

To share your insights and suggestions, please email us at awards@rics.org Together, we can ensure these awards continue to represent and celebrate the achievements of surveyors and their service to the profession.
