I am Neil and I am a Commercial Surveyor in the EMEA Data Centre team at CBRE. I advise my clients on Data Centre acquisitions and disposals both in the UK and across EMEA. I joined CBRE in 2017 and completed their training scheme, becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 2019. I joined the Board of the Investment Property Forum, in July 2019. Having been an ambassador for the charity, I was appointed as Vice-Chair of the Investment Committee for LionHeart (RICS Benevolent Fund), supporting the management of the finances of LionHeart to ensure that their work can continue and that we can serve the members of the RICS for many years to come. I was appointed a Trustee and member of the Board of Directors in December 2022. I am a member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors and was appointed Freedom of the City of London in 2024. When I am not doing Data Centres or Matrics, I am a keen cyclist and can usually be found whizzing around Richmond Park.

As a bit of background, alongside the RICS team, the Matrics UK board take the lead on vision and strategy for Matrics in the UK, with a mission to inspire and empower the next generation of surveyors. I have been a keen attender of Matrics events since 2017 when I finished my Master’s degree. I joined the UK & Ireland board for Matrics in 2022, and since then have been instrumental in the Matrics branding and Matrics Awards. The board has been very busy with the Matrics handbook, Linkedin strategy, Matrics awards, APC guides and assisting with business plans and forecasting. I have loved the work we have been involved in and have made some great friends along the way! I was then appointed the Chair of Matrics UK & Ireland in June 2024 for a 12 month term. I am a champion of diversity and sustainability within CBRE and the wider industry, so I hope to bring both of these to the forefront within my year as Chair.

Matrics provides a fantastic platform for early qualified RICS professionals in the industry, it has certainly helped me to grow my network and develop my knowledge, people and presentation skills. We are recruiting for three new board positions this year, so if you have a desire to provide support for others, grow your network and develop your own skills, a role on the Matrics UK board could be for you
