2023 was a year of effecting positive change across the UK built environment on sustainability, placemaking and skills.

We have met with Ministers and policymakers, CEOs and consumer groups - placing RICS and surveyors at the heart of some of the biggest challenges facing our communities – delivering on our Royal Charter commitment to work in the public interest while futureproofing the importance of the surveying profession.

Through the support of members, RICS has been at the centre of government on matters such as driving up standards, quality and supply in housing, creating a consistent approach towards decarbonising real estate, and planning and land reform.

With a General Election on the horizon, it also highlights the recently launched RICS Manifesto ‘Empowering a sustainable future’, and our influence across the political spectrum to embed surveying and RICS thought leadership into the policy-making process for the betterment of the built environment and public.
