Meet the board
Norman is the current Chair of the RICS Scotland Board – appointed in September 2024 Norman’s professional experience spans over 30 years split between the traditional construction, engineering renewable energy, oil & gas and offshore power wind sectors. He has held senior management positions and worked for top FTSE, NYSE and JSE listed companies in the UK, Europe, America, Canada Sub-Saharan, South Africa and the Middle East. In addition to his ongoing industry commitments, he is also a Visiting Professor for the School of Architecture & Built Environment at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen which he supports on a pro-bono basis. He is passionate about the upskilling and development of others. His appointment has been welcomed by the RICS executive as he brings a wealth of business and organisational experience and by way of some background, his recent industry focus has been as Director General of the UK / European subsidiary of the Offshore Marine Construction Group COES which has a primary business stream supporting major capital projects in the Renewable Energy Industry. He also holds a number of other non-executive Director and Trustee type roles and he is also a member of Cross Party Scottish Parliament Renewable Energy Group at Holyrood. Norman’s professional experience spans over 30 years split between the traditional construction, engineering, renewable energy, oil & gas and offshore power wind sectors. He has held numerous pan industry non-executive director / board advisory positions across the Energy Sector and is a member of the Cross-Party Scottish Parliament Renewable Energy Group at Hollyrood. Norman is also a Visiting Professor for the School of Architecture & Built Environment at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He is passionate about development & Upskilling of others.
Vice Chair, RICS Scotland Board
Kenny is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Director of Torridon Cost Consultancy, bringing over a decade of experience in cost management across residential and leisure sectors throughout Scotland. His focus at Torridon is on delivering sustainable, cost-effective solutions that enhance project outcomes for developers and property owners. Kenny has a long-standing commitment to RICS, with previous roles on the RICS Matrics UK Board and as Chair of RICS Matrics Scotland. In this role, he established a well-attended interprofessional networking event in Edinburgh, creating a platform for project professionals to collaborate and share best practices. Kenny has also delivered talks at Edinburgh Napier University, inspiring the next generation of surveyors and project managers to explore diverse career pathways in construction.
Special Adviser to RICS Scotland Board Chair
Brian Reeves is Special Adviser to the Chair of the RICS Scotland Board, in a Non-Executive role. This adds much weight and considerable experience to the Board, respecting the spirit and recommendations in the Bichard Report. Brian’s career spans a variety of roles including; Arbitrator, Chartered Surveyor, formerly a Head of Colliers in Scotland, and founder of Brian Reeves & Co. Brian has committed decades to the profession through membership of the following boards; RICS Governing Council, Knowledge Board, Past Dispute Resolution Boards, Vice-Chair RICS UK and Worldwide Professional Group Board
Deputy Director - Head of Property & Construction, Chief Surveyor, Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate
Morag is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with over 30 years’ experience in public sector property working for local and national government, community organisations and charities. She joined Scottish Government in 2013, helped establish the Smarter Workplaces Programme, runs the national Property Controls and sits on a number of corporate Boards. In 2024, Morag is the Past Chair member of the Executive Committee of ACES (Assoc of Chief Estates Surveyors) Scotland and is leading delivery of the Single Scottish Estate connecting best practice across the Scottish public sector. Under the auspices of the Construction Leadership Forum, Morag co-chairs its Transformation Board to deliver the Construction Accord in Scotland. Morag is the principal property adviser to the Scottish Ministers, Chief Surveyor and Head of Profession for a superb team of professional advisers innovating, enhancing and transforming Scottish Ministers’ estate and construction procurement. She is a Trustee and Vice-Chair of the Church of Scotland Trust and has variously worked flexibly and taken career breaks during which she built a playpark, helped renovate a historic building and ran her own business. Morag co-authored a guide to Scottish leases for landowners and community groups.
Ann-Marie is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Head of Operations for the Technology & Innovation Centre. She has more than 30years experience across contracting and consultancy before finding her niche in strategic Facilities management. AMC has been heavily involved with the RICS since graduating and was past chair of the JO (before it became Matrics). Ann-Marie is passionate about education & promoting the RICS and the careers it has to offer.
Senior Cost Consultant, Arcadis
Craig is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has been with Arcadis since August 2007, working within the Property team. Craig brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience to the RICS Scotland Board with over 15 years’ experience within the construction industry and has been involved in a wide variety of projects and services. Craig is also a board member of the RICS Matrics UK Board and aims to ensure RICS members are supported on a regular basis. Craig is a passionate and loyal individual who enjoys effecting positive change in the built and natural environments, as well as helping colleagues and industry peers advance in their professional career and feels it rewarding to give back and support RICS members. Craig was elected as a Fellow of the RICS in July 2022.
Since graduating in 2013 Kevin’s career has gone from strength to strength. Initially as a Chartered Surveyor specialising predominantly in Residential Valuation, he then became a Technical Partner within the Learning and Development Team of his firm focusing on the Trainee and APC Programmes. Alongside this role he has acted as Chair the LSL Inclusion and Diversity Forum, been an active Committee Member of Glasgow Matrics and in 2021 won RICS Young Surveyor of the Year in the Valuation category. Kevin lives in Stirling with his Husband, Daniel and is passionate about property and people – as people are at the centre of everything we do and looks forward to focusing on D&I within RICS Scotland as well as representing the Residential sector.
FRICS, Senior Partner, Thomas and Adamson
Alastair is the Senior Partner of Thomas & Adamson, based in their head office in Edinburgh. He brings valuable knowledge of the whole construction and property process, having worked for both private practices and international construction managers and developers. He is passionate about the industry and thankful for the opportunities it has given him in his career. He is keen help the RICS remain relevant and respected in the years ahead.
Matthew is a senior surveyor within the Non - Domestic Rates team at Avison Young in Edinburgh. He is passionate about the profession and through previously working in Aberdeen and Dundee, is eager to engage with members in the regions and provide a direct voice to the board. Furthermore, Matthew is keen to encourage and support the next generation of surveyors from all backgrounds to ensure the RICS remains one of the most respected professional bodies.
RICS Scotland Matrics Chair
Katie Dunbar is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 10 years experience in the property and construction industry in various roles. She has a strong track record with RICS Matrics having been involved with the Glasgow committee since 2018. In 2021, Katie took on the position as Chair of the RICS Matrics Glasgow committee and held this for three successful years. Following this she stepped up as Regional Chair for RICS Matrics Scotland, a role which has existed for a number of years here and has since been replicated in England and Wales by RICS. Katie is an invited member to the RICS Scotland Board and acts as a direct link between them and the three Matrics Regional Committees across Scotland.

Lisa is the main contact for RICS members in Scotland (lmcdonald@rics.org) and joined RICS in 2022. Lisa has over 20 years international marketing experience with the majority working for professional qualifying institutions. Passionate about supporting the strategy for RICS in Scotland based on the outcomes of the independent Lord Bichard Review which was commissioned by the RICS Governing Council to review the Institution’s purpose, governance and strategy
