Michael Henning FRICS, Chair

Director, Todd Milburn

Michael has over 40 years of industry experience and has been a Director at Newcastle Based practice Todd Milburn since 2017. His main expertise lies in Cost and Project Management having spent several years in private practice and as a Commercial Manager for a large development and construction company, overseeing projects across the full range of industry sectors throughout the UK and mainland Europe. He has been actively involved on a local and national level in RICS since the mid 80’s, and was the North East of England representative on Governing Council between 2011 and 2017. He is currently Chair of the North East Regional Board.

Alan Smith MRICS, Dip Surv, CDipAF

Commercial Manager, Sunderland City Council

Alan is a Commercial Manager at Sunderland City Council working with a team to deliver the extensive masterplan for the regeneration of Sunderland. He has previously been involved with the RICS Northumberland and Durham Junior Organisation and was also QS APC Doctor for the Branch. Since working in the public sector, Alan came to the view that surveyors working in the public sector are underrepresented and this was one of the reasons he applied to join the Board. Alan is very passionate about supporting and mentoring the younger members of the profession as well as LionHeart.

Stacey Price FRICS

Senior Commercial Manager, Laing O’Rourke

Stacey is a Senior Commercial Manager at Laing O’Rourke and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 23 years experience in the Construction Industry across the UK and Middle-East. She is a Fellow of the RICS, an APC Chair and Assessor, RICS Inspire & LionHeart Ambassador, a Non-Exec Director of Acumen Community Buildings and Chair of LOR Working Families Community, a diversity and inclusion subcommittee which has helped transform the workplace enabling working parents to thrive at home and at work. Stacey joined the NE Board in December 2022 and is a passionate advocate for working parents and women in construction and she is very ambitious about shaping the Construction Industry’s future.

Holly Doughney MRICS

Associate Director, Gleeds Cost Management Ltd

Holly is an Associate Director of Cost Management at Gleeds with over 12 years industry experience in the UAE and the UK. She has worked across many sectors of the industry, working extensively with commercial developers, and public and private clients across the UK and Europe. Holly is an ardent supporter of collaborative and innovative thinking and is the Gleeds Champion in the use of CostX and undertakes training across the UK, Europe and worldwide. She is an RICS APC assessor and Chair as well as an internal mentor at Gleeds. Holly is also passionate about mentoring those in need in the wider construction industry whether this be through school, college and the PlanBee programme or students at university who do not have RICS councillors at their current places of work.

Mark Doherty MRICS, NEC4 PM

Managing Director, Identity Consult

Mark is Managing Director of Identity Consult, an independent development and construction consultancy based in the North East. Mark was one of the founding members when the practice was formed back in 2006 and specialises in the residential, healthcare and commercial sectors. Mark joined the board in 2024 and is passionate about attracting new professionals into the industry, is an internal & external APC Councillor and has a desire to drive efficiency through the use of technology.

Connor Penman MRICS, NEC4 PM

Senior Cost Manager, Turner & Townsend

Connor is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor & Accredited NEC4 ECC Project Manager who specialises in the delivery of major infrastructure. He’s worked on a number of high profile projects in both the UK and Scandinavia, currently supporting the Environment Agency as their Commercial Services Manager for the North East & Yorkshire.

Andrew Milnes MRICS

Director, Identity Consult

Andrew is a Senior Director at Identity Consult and heads up the North East region. He is an award-winning Project Manager and has overseen the delivery of significant developments across the region. Andrew came to the Northeast in 2001 to study, where he graduated in 2005 from Northumbria University with a Building Design Management degree. He joined Morgan Sindall Construction and worked his way up through the business, before joining Identity Consult in 2013 where he has remained since. Andrew is passionate around creating a sustainable industry for the future, promoting the link between education and the world of work, ultimately enabling opportunities for generations to come.

Douglas Cranston MRICS, MSc

Head of Property & Investment Director, MCM Group

Douglas is Head of Property and Investment Director at MCM Group – a regional Property Investment & Development Company. Prior to MCM Group he specialised in and was Partner in Capital Markets at Knight Frank. Douglas also spent time earlier in his career working in Valuation, Lease Consultancy and Business Space Agency whilst at JLL and King Sturge. Douglas joined the board in 2019 and is passionate about promoting student engagement between local higher education establishments and the RICS.

Jonathan Wallis MRICS, FAAV

Jonathan is a self-employed Chartered Surveyor specialising in rural property. He qualified in 2008 and after working for two regional North East firms, set up his own practice in 2017. Jonathan specialises in valuation, landlord and tenant matters and negotiating. Jonathan joined the board in 2018 as he is passionate in advocating his profession and helping and supporting others, particularly younger members who are coming into the profession.
