The Chartered Surveyors' Training Trust is an independent charity that supports young people who face barriers to entering the surveying profession.

As university fees increase, an apprenticeship route provides a cost-effective way to start your career in surveying. We are in partnership with the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust (CSTT), an organisation that helps young people to become surveyors by offering apprenticeship schemes that count towards our Associate membership (AssocRICS).

As an apprentice, you can learn on the job, build up knowledge and skills, gain qualifications, and earn money, all at the same time. If you are eligible, apprenticeships are also available with CSTT. Each programme runs for two years. During this period you’ll work for four days a week with a local employer while attending a local college/university one day a week to undertake an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying. This study will help you to obtain a surveying qualification, such as a Level 3 NVQ in surveying, property and maintenance, or a Level 3 Diploma in construction.

On completion of the two-year programme, you then take the assessment to qualify as an RICS Associate. Following the apprenticeship, studying part-time as a CSTT Managed Student may then lead you on the road to full chartered surveyor status.
