As part of its review into professional indemnity insurance (PII), RICS scoped out a number of interventions to assist regulated firms in getting adequate and appropriate PII. One of these was to develop a list of insurance brokers with experience of providing brokering services for RICS regulated firms.

RICS has now launched this list, which you can find below.

Please note that inclusion on the list does not constitute an endorsement of the broker. Equally, RICS does not regulate or oversee the brokers on the list and cannot provide any redress should you be dissatisfied with the services they provide. The list is intended to be a helpful starting point for firms starting out in practice or wishing to change broker.

In order to appear on the list, every broker must confirm that they have experience in providing brokering services for RICS regulated firms and pledge to do the following:

  • Engage with our RICS clients in a transparent and honest way
  • Provide a high quality service and respond to queries swiftly
  • Proactively communicate frequently with our clients and alert them to any potential issues as soon as reasonably practicable
  • Have a robust mechanism for handling complaints from clients
  • Take steps to understand the areas of work undertaken by the client and assist them in presenting their risks so that they can get adequate and appropriate cover
