The successful teams and individuals of this year’s Awards were announced and celebrated at a formal ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong on Friday 25 October 2024.
All winners and highly commended demonstrate industry leading achievements and show the highest standards of professionalism across the built environment in Hong Kong.
It was also our honour to announce Mr Albert CHEUNG Hau-Wai, SBS MRICS as the recipient of the most prestigious award for built environment professionals, the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr Albert CHEUNG Hau-Wai, SBS MRICS
Mr Cheung Hau-wai graduated from the then Hong Kong Technical College, now Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in 1978. He joined the then Hong Kong Government’s Public Works Department and rose to the rank of Director of Buildings, the head of the Buildings Department in 2017.
Since his retirement from the Department, he first served as a Council Member of the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council (CIC). As Chairman of the Council’s Construction Site Safety Committee, he explored measures to promote the safety of construction sites. At the CIC, Mr Cheung was also appointed a member and then Chairman of the Council’s CIC Zero Carbon Plaza, the first of its kind in Hong Kong.
Outside the construction field and in the planning arena, Mr Cheung served for eight years as a member of the Hong Kong Town Planning Board, for two years the Deputy Chairman of its Rural Planning Committee.
Moving on to promoting the design, construction and management of green buildings, Mr. Cheung was appointed a Director of the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) in January 2009, and the Chairman of the Council from January 2016 to January 2023.
In the Council, Mr CHEUNG advocated harmonising green buildings with their surrounding built environment, mobilising its natural air, wind, sunlight, and water and to maximise the use of renewable energy. The HKGBC strives also to retrofit and re-commission the large stock of existing buildings in Hong Kong to actualise sustainability and energy-saving in a high density city to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality before 2050.
Outside the green community, Mr CHEUNG was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of a charitable organisation that took part in reconstructing villages damaged in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. He was responsible for fund raising and reconstruction project management.
Mr Cheung is now a member of the Advisory Committee on Water Supplies.

The CBRE Advisory & Transaction Services – Office Services team of 37 brokers completed over 300 transactions in 2023 covering over 3 million sq. ft. of Grade A office spaces across Hong Kong. The Office Services team secured many marquee landlord representation mandates and built a strong reputation among Chinese PRC clients. As a leading real estate advisor, the CBRE team provides integrated real estate solutions for occupiers working alongside workplace, transaction management and project management teams. The Office Services team has played a pivotal role in promoting ESG practices through thought-leadership, workplace design, green lease education and sustainability accreditation.
JLL - Office Leasing Advisory (OLA) team
JLL’s OLA team deserves to be elected the RICS agency team of the year. With remarkable achievements and exceptional service, they completed 399 office leasing transactions in 2023, totaling 5 million square feet. Their expertise, collaboration across departments, and focus on bespoke strategies have earned the trust of major landlords and secured significant appointments. The team’s commitment to professionalism, innovation, sustainability, and client satisfaction makes them deserving of the award.

D·Park, located in Tsuen Wan, is a shopping mall that spans an impressive 630,000 square feet. It made headlines as one of the largest en-bloc transaction in 2024, signifying its prominence. The teams’ excellence shines through their ability to secure this outstanding transaction while ensuring smooth operational transition in this massive mall with 130+ tenancies and HKD 1 billion worth of assets, with the help of over 140 professionals working day and night to tackle more than 200 operational and contractual complexities without a traditional real estate agent involved in the deal.

Cushman & Wakefield seamlessly facilitated Li Ning Company Ltd’s acquisition of Harbour East, 218 Electric Road, North Point from Henderson Land, even amid Hong Kong’s market challenges. Adhering to RICS standards, we maintained professionalism and integrity throughout the process. The Upcycling Project

With solid and persistent effort of Harry throughout the past years, the Sikh Temple project continued to echo Basic Law’s emphasis to promote and protect diverse religious culture. 500 Sikhs and visitors visited the new temple every day, which is 40% more than the old temple. The new temple serves 5,000 free meals for those in needs every week.
This achieved what they promote “no one leaves with an empty stomach” and “Justice and Equality”. Most importantly, Sikhs have a safe location in contrast to the old building built in 1901, with the architecture built resemble to ones in India.

Colliers’ Research department is composed of members with diverse real estate and planning expertise, led by veteran Kathy Lee. Specialists Rating services helped clients save over HK$150 million in 2023, over and above client servicing expectations. VAS’s proficiency in managing the complex projects outlined in the submission underscores their professionalism. Despite market challenges, the team creatively adopted technology, analytics, and teamwork to offer valuable insights and advice, securing their status as trusted advisors and leading them to outperform their financial target for the year. Their innovative use of automated valuation models is further evidence of their dedication to technological advancement.

Colliers’ Valuation and Advisory Services (CVAS) department is one of Hong Kong’s largest, with 85 professionals including 35 qualified experts. CVAS invests in developing talent through comprehensive training programs, ensuring a steady pipeline of future RICS and HKIS qualified valuers. The team shares its expertise, regularly conducting CPD sessions. In 2023, CVAS valued over 6,000 properties, a 70% increase, grew revenue by 82%. With solid and persistent effort of Harry throughout the past years, the Sikh Temple project continued to echo Basic Law’s emphasis to promote and protect diverse religious culture. 500 Sikhs and visitors visited the new temple every day, which is 40% more than the old temple. The new temple serves 5,000 free meals for those in needs every week.
This achieved what they promote “no one leaves with an empty stomach” and “Justice and Equality”. Most importantly, Sikhs have a safe location in contrast to the old building built in 1901, with the architecture built resemble to ones in India.

He joined MTR in 2008 with responsibility for the procurement and commercial management of Hong Kong's then five new railway projects with a combined budget of some HK$200Bn.
