The latest Quarterly Global Performance Report highlights growth in member engagement activity, with more than 10,500 members globally taking part in events between October and December 2024, increasing by 45% compared to the last quarter.

Covering RICS performance from October to December 2024, the report highlights our progress towards strategic objectives, developments on standards, thought leadership, membership and corporate performance.

At the same time, the report, now live and ready to download reflects on members’ achievements at the RICS Awards and UK Matrics Surveyor Awards, as well as showcasing the latest RICS Sustainability Report and the updated Red Book.

Member engagement and leadership

In addition to increased member engagement activity, a third of these events were face-to-face and member-led. This included the 125th anniversary for Lionheart, the independent charity for RICS professionals, where we celebrated their legacy of supporting members past and present.

From October to December 2024, our activity saw:

  • 1,880 participants at member-led events
  • 3,228 attendees at face-to-face member-led events
  • 2,259 attendees at regional conferences

Our leadership continues to strengthen as we saw 19 key appointments across advisory and world regional boards, including new appointees for the Hong Kong Regional Advisory Board, UK&I Regional Board and Matrics UK Board.

Professional Practice

The quarter saw the update of the Red Book, reflecting our commitment to support high standards in valuation delivery worldwide and future-proof practices in the public interest.

As a global leader in decarbonising the built environment, RICS took part at COP29 in Baku. Our delegation advocated for the importance of collaboration to drive alignment of whole life carbon (WLC) methodologies. COP29 also coincided with the launch of the RICS Sustainability Report 2024, outlining the trends and sentiments of 4,000 natural and built environment professionals across 32 countries.

Between October and November, we ran the biannual members’ survey, Survey of the profession, and you can view highlights from the survey alongside the Q4 report. The survey offers a glimpse into the temperature gauge of our members globally, as well as our performance against our KPIs.

RICS’ Global Quarterly Performance reports are intended to give professionals, interested stakeholders, governing council and employees a high-level overview of the organisation’s operational performance every three months. They are an important element of our commitment to transparency, supplementing annual opportunities to hear about RICS’ activities including the Annual Review and AGM.
