The building sector is crucial for achieving the EU’s energy and environmental goals. Renovating the existing building stock to be more energy efficient will improve quality of life for citizens and bring additional benefits to health, employment and the economy.

Developed as one of two main legislative instruments in the EU’s Renovation Wave Strategy, the EPBD could help the region to meet its objective to least double the energy renovation rate of buildings by 2030.
